It Begins

Haiti’s proposed Phoenix Stadium is about more than any one sport, even one that is so much more than a mere game

The Poetic Game by Michael E. Quigg - combining soccer and poetry

It begins with destruction.

From rubbled homes

And grieving souls,

From calamity,

Comes resurrection.

It begins with conception.

A seed planted in ash

To grow from fire,

To burn,

With pure intention

It begins with connection.

Beating heart

To graceful soul,

A prayer,

For hope's construction.

A poem I wrote for a project to benefit Haiti after the earthquake can be found here.
